Day 18.
March 4th, 2010
Welcome, Get Rich Slowly readers!
After J.D. linked to my blog yesterday from Get Rich Slowly, the competition for paintings here got a little tougher. There are a lot more people seeing this today than there were yesterday. If you’re joining in on our project for the first time, then read here to make sure you understand the process.
Also, some of you might recognize the Kris in the story below from her guest posts on GRS.
Without further ado, day 18.
A very good Christmas present.
Our friend Kris makes her own pickles. There is no way to explain to you how good these pickles are. It would be a waste of words, so you’ll have to trust me– they’re that good.
In mid-January I went thrift store shopping with her and once we returned to her house she handed me a small bag. “We’ve had this for you since Christmas, but we haven’t seen you. So, here you go.”
I squealed when I opened the bag. Then I brought that jar of pickles home and squirreled it away.
Last week, I wanted a grilled cheese with pickles. So I opened the jar. The pickles are gone now, but I managed to paint them before I finished them off. Thanks, Kris!
P.S. Kris, my birthday’s coming up!

Just found your site. 100 paintings in 100 days – Cool idea! I like it!

I have a one-year-old and Pickles is one of her nicknames (along with Sprout and Monkey). I would never have thought that a painting of a jar of pickles could be so pretty.

So glad you like the pickles, Jolie. It’s fun to see you immortalizing them through your art.

Kris– I love the pickles. They are worthy of immortality.
